Discover What Type Of Yoga Mat Is Right For You

Yoga Bolster

One of the lesser known of fitness accessories, the yoga bolster is the most useful tool that you have never heard of. Similar to blocks, they are made to help you with your posturing during yoga practice, and are great for both beginners who are new to the routine, and those who are entering into advanced types, and so need a little extra help.

Flexibility is a gift that comes naturally to some, but to most of us it has to be gained over time. When working with yoga, you don’t have that luxury. The first few week on any new routine can be brutal, as muscles not often used, such as the powerhouse muscles, are pushed to their limit.

During this time, having a yoga bolster can really help you to gain the experience and muscle tone you need, without risking injury.

Because they can be so helpful to avoid safety hazards, it isn’t surprising to note that a yoga bolster or set of blocks is required for many public classes, such as those provided by your local gym. As yoga increases in popularity, the need for protection against liability is needed. A yoga bolster greatly reduced risks, just like a mat.

There are several types of yoga bolster, but most as rectangular in shape to minimize slipping. Some are also spherical, but many avoid this type out of fear that they could roll from beneath them. If you are working with more advanced poses, and so have more experience in distributing your weight, you might prefer one that is rounded.

Because they are made with thick cushions, a yoga bolster can greatly reduce the amount of strain on certain parts of the body, and are rather comfortable for the ending portion of class, when you sit and focus on your breathing and energy. It pays to have that added comfort there, so you don’t have to think about any aches in the body while sitting on the floor.

Be aware that if you buy one of these cushions, you will want to buy a cover to go with it. They are rarely made with a material or stuffing that can easily be washed, but a cover will come right off, and can be thrown into a washer and dryer.
